Have you been frustrated by the long wait to make an appointment for a psychiatrist or other approved medication provider on behalf of your clients? Have you had difficulty talking with your clients’ prescriber by phone to consult on the case? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be able to prescribe psychotropic medication yourself or refer to a Prescribing Psychologist colleague? What would you need to learn? How would you get licensed or certified? What states allow properly trained Psychologists to prescribe psychotropic medications? What are the benefits of this model? Can this even be done in Texas?
Here is your chance to learn about the Texas RxP movement and efforts of the Texas Psychological Association to pursue legislation that allows properly trained psychologists to prescribe and manage psychotropic medications for mental health conditions.
This presentation is free to all licensed providers and mental health students, and includes 1 CEU for BVPA members (nonmembers wishing to obtain CEUs are encouraged to join BVPA--that will enable you to attend all of our CEU events for free or reduced rates all year!).
