CURRENT BOARD MEMBERS 2025



Kaitlyn Stein, PhD, President 

Dr. Kaitlyn Stein is a licensed psychologist who obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. Dr. Stein completed all three of her degrees at TAMU, and is a passionate member of the Aggie network! She owns and operates a virtual private practice, Thrive Psychological Services, where she provides counseling services to couples and individuals across the lifespan. She specializes in working with clients presenting with anxiety, depression, stress-management, and relationship distress. Dr. Stein completed her internship year at the Oklahoma Health Consortium, with a focus in the areas of couples therapy and assessment. Her postdoctoral fellowship was completed at Telebehavioral Care at Texas A&M University in the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) program, where she was able to provide brief counseling services to children. Dr. Stein’s research interests include therapeutic outcomes, counselor well-being, and counselor training.


Sara Little, PhD, Past President 

Dr. Sara Little became a psychologist after years as an educator, working with child and adult learners from preschool through graduate school. She earned an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to moving to Texas in 2019, Dr. Little worked as a teacher and school psychologist with diverse populations, in New York and Rhode Island, including 15 years as School Psychologist and Program Evaluator at the RI Training School for Youth, a juvenile detention center. In addition, she has been in private practice part-time, since 1996. Dr. Little is a licensed as a Psychologist in both RI and TX, and is currently seeing clients from both states via teletherapy. Her current professional interests include the practical application of evidence-based practices in day-to-day practice and teletherapy. Her current personal interests involve travel and grandchildren. Dr. Little notes, "I am fortunate to be able to continue to do work that I love in 'semi-retirement,' as I split my time between winters in Texas and summers in New England."

Stephanie Liu, M.A.,  Assistant President

Stephanie Liu is a school psychology doctoral student at Texas A&M University. She holds a Biology B.S. from UCLA and an Educational Psychology M.A. from Ball State University. Her career journey evolved from an initial interest in conservation work to later medicine, and now school psychology. Along the way, she served two years in AmeriCorps, taught Mandarin and Mindfulness in K-12, and volunteered extensively at a hospital and community clinic. She is currently the Test Librarian at TAMU's Counseling and Assessment Clinic. In terms of research, she is interested in exploring teacher-student relationships, teacher self-efficacy, social-emotional learning, and the use of generative AI in school psychology. Ultimately, Stephanie would like to leverage her knowledge and skills in biology, psychology, and education to serve diverse populations, with an emphasis on low-income communities, in a clinical role. In her free time, she likes to read, cook, and travel.





Ted Stachowiak, PhD, ABPPTreasurer

Ted Stachowiak received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University. He has served in clinical and administration positions in community mental health, university counseling centers, with most of his career as Associate Director, Student Counseling Service, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX (retired).  He has served as President of the American Board of Counseling Psychology, and President of the American Academy of Counseling Psychology, Chair of site visits for APA Accreditation of Doctoral Internship Programs in Health Service Psychology, and as Secretary, Board of Directors, Brazos Valley Psychological Association.  He is Cochair of the Oral Examination for board certification in the specialty of Counseling Psychology, for which he also serves as a mentor, practice sample reviewer, and oral examiner.  He is the 2017 recipient of The Society of Counseling Psychology’s award for Outstanding Achievement in the Practice of Counseling Psychology, and the 2025 recipient of the American Board of Professional Psychology’s award for Distinguished Service and Contributions to the American Board of Professional Psychology.



Craig Henderson, PhD, Assistant Treasurer 

Dr. Henderson is Professor of Psychology at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) and Director of Clinical Training for the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. He is a licensed psychologist in the State of Texas. Dr. Henderson’s research interests concern the health behaviors of adolescents and emerging adults. He has been conducting research on adolescent substance use treatment for 20 years and has an interest in applying advanced data analytic methodologies to address clinically-relevant research questions. His clinical interests include training students to be effective, culturally responsive clinicians and conducting psychological evaluations for individuals involved in immigration proceedings. Consistent with his values in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI), he engages in advocacy, at the professional, state, and community levels and facilitates his students doing the same.





Megan Bond, M.A., LPC, Secretary

Megan Bond is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who obtained her B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University and her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University. She is a referral coordinator and LPC at Texas A&M University in University Health Services' Counseling & Mental Health Care. In this role, she works to assist students in evaluating and identifying their counseling, psychiatric, medical, and social service needs in order to support their mental health and wellness. Megan additionally guides students on how to connect with these services inside and outside of Bryan/College Station. Advocacy, education, and identification of service resources are some of the common components of her role. In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and watching Friends and The Office reruns.


Cheyenne Fryar, M.Ed., Assistant Secretary

Cheyenne Fryar (she/her) is BVPA’s Assistant Secretary! Cheyenne received her BA in Psychology, with a minor in American Sign Language, from Baylor University in 2019 and her M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2024. She is now a second-year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Texas A&M University. She works as a graduate assistant for TAMU's University Health Services Prevention & Population Health Team, where she assists with outreach and holistic health programming. Her research interests include stress, resiliency, and suicidality. In her free time, Cheyenne enjoys gardening, listening to true-crime podcasts, and hanging out with her two cats.




Rebecca Robles-Pina, PhD, Director of Legislation and Advocacy

My name is Rebecca Robles-PiƱa, PhD and I am a licensed clinical psychologist, licensed specialist in school psychology, school counselor, and certified teacher in Texas. I retired as a professor after 23 years at Sam Houston State University teaching counseling and psychology courses and supervising clinical work. At the same time, I managed a small clinical practice.

Since retirement two years ago, I have supervised doctoral level psychologists at Texas A&M University Behavioral Healthcare in their clinical work. Further, I have been an adjunct professor in the Health Psychology Program at Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK), RELLIS campus in College Station, Texas. Additionally, I am affiliated with Associates for Applied Psychology in College Station, TX.  There, my practice includes children, adolescents, and adults and I conduct therapy in Spanish and English. In January, I was nominated and approved by the Brazos Valley Psychology Association (BVPA) to serve as Director of Legislation and Advocacy. I look forward to serving you in this capacity.  



Megan McCarty, MA, LPC-S, CCTP, Director of Membership

Megan Health Co-Responder

Texas A&M University Health Services

Megan McCarty is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. She began her work as a mental health professional in 2004 and has served in various settings including public schools, private practice, corporate wellness, and higher education. Megan brought her knowledge and experience to Texas A&M University in 2023 to assist with the development and implementation of a mental health co-responder program for the Aggieland community. As a Certified Clinical Trauma professional, a major focus in Megan’s work has been crisis intervention and providing trauma-informed care. 

Throughout her career Megan has presented at numerous conferences and led several mental health training courses. She has been a presenter at conferences hosted by Crisis Intervention Team International, Texas Counseling Association, International Co-Responder Alliance, and Lone Star State School Counselor Association, among others.

Lizette Vela Turrubiartes, B.A.Assistant Director of Membership

Lizette Vela (she/her) is a full-time graduate student at Sam Houston State University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis on Health Psychology from the RELLIS System. Lizette is excited to have this opportunity at BVPA and looks forward to learning from other professionals and networking with other students.


In her free time, she loves watching Disney Movies, creating videos, spending time with family, talking with friends, listening and dancing to music.



Priscilla Khademi Kalantari, MA, LMFT, Director of  Communications & Publicity 

Priscilla Khademi Kalantari is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who obtained her B.A. in Sociology from University of Hawaii and her M.A. in Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Counseling from Chapman University, California. She recently opened a counseling practice Encouraged Hearts Counseling. In this role, she works to with individuals, couples, and adolescents. Prior to working in private practice Priscilla worked for the Brazos Valley Juvenile Detention Center where she conducted DBT groups, crisis management, PREA Assessments, and counseling to adolescents and families. In her free time, Priscilla enjoys bike riding, traveling, fooding, and trying new coffee shops.

Katrina Velasquez, M.Ed., Assistant Director of  Communications 

Katrina is a second-year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Texas A&M. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Human Development, with a minor in Biology, from the University at Albany. She also earned her M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. Currently, Katrina works as a graduate assistant at the Texas A&M Counseling and Assessment Clinic, where she serves as the clinic's service coordinator.


Kaylee Jackson, PhD, Director of  Technology 

Kaylee Jackson (she/her) is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at Texas A&M. Dr. Jackson completed both her undergraduate and doctoral education at Texas A&M and loves living in College Station. She works in the Department of Primary Care and Rural Medicine teaching family medicine residents, psychiatry residents, and psychology doctoral students in health psychology and integrated behavioral health interventions. She also enjoys research and clinical work, specializing in integrated health models, telehealth, trauma-informed care, and health psychology. Dr. Jackson enjoys spending her free time watching movies, cooking, and spending time with her partner and three dogs.
