VOLUNTEER WITH BVPA

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Brazos Valley Psychological Association. We welcome individuals of all academic and professional backgrounds who share our passion for supporting mental health in our community. In fact, many of our volunteers are students pursuing degrees outside of psychology! Thank you for donating your time and expertise to help BVPA serve local mental health providers and, in turn, our community’s mental health.

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH BVPA?

Volunteering with the BVPA is not just about giving back—it’s also an incredible opportunity for personal and professional growth. Here is a brief list of what you can gain from joining our volunteer team:

1. Real-World Insight: Get firsthand exposure to how mental health advocacy and services function behind the scenes.

2. Professional Networking: Forge connections with local psychologists, mental health professionals, and community leaders. These relationships can lead to mentorships, valuable advice, and possible job referrals in the future.

3. Skill Development: Build and refine transferable skills—like project management, event coordination, public speaking, and community outreach—that will enhance your resume, no matter your career path.

4. Resume Building: Stand out to future employers or graduate programs. Volunteering with a reputable association demonstrates initiative, commitment, and real-world experience in a service-oriented environment.

5. Letters of Recommendation: Earn strong references from BVPA leaders who can attest to your dedication and contributions. These endorsements can boost applications for scholarships, internships, and jobs.
