Join us for a 3-hour CE event presented by leading experts at Texas Children's Hospital.

This training will cover:

  • Current empirically supported therapy modalities for adolescents, young adults, and their families 
  • Medical and nutritional management of eating disorders with a particular focus on psychologists partnering with other disciplines to provide support
  • Description of different levels of care for eating disorders and when to consider a different level 
  • Navigating the transition to adulthood and its impact on eating disorder treatment considerations

When: Friday, June 3rd from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

About our speakers:

Beth Garland, PhD

Dr. Garland is a clinical psychologist who specializes in the treatment of adolescents and emerging adults with eating related concerns and disorders. She earned her master’s degree from James Madison University and her doctorate from Texas A&M University. She completed her internship with the Baylor College of Medicine – where she is currently an Associate Professor - and a postdoctoral fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Garland studies outcomes of group and individual behavioral interventions as well as common psychological co-morbidities across adolescents with obesity and eating-related disorders. In particular she is interested in adolescent motivation for change and transition-related issues for adolescents.

Sharonda Alston Taylor, MD, FAAP, FSAHM, Dipl. of ABOM

Dr. Taylor is a physician board certified in Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, and Obesity Medicine with extensive experience in medical weight management, developing novel programs to treat morbid obesity, leading multidisciplinary teams, and training others in evidence-based care. She earned her doctorate from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and went on to complete a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. In addition to her work at Texas Children's Hospital, Dr. Taylor is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Fellowship Director at Baylor College of Medicine. 

Meg Mathias, MS, RD, LD

Ms. Mathias is a Clinical Pediatric Dietician at Texas Children’s Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her master’s degree in dietetics and clinical nutrition services from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.


Learners with varying levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend.
